For the second consecutive year, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in conjunction with the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA), is again photographing and finger printing school age children across America. Locally, Phoenix FLEOA Chapter 24 will be participating in the national event at the Thomas Pappas Elementary School located at 355 N. 5th Ave, Phoenix. This pilot project will be held on Thursday May 24, 2007, starting at 8:30am.
Chapter members along with staff from the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association and the United States Marshals Service Posse will be recording the finger prints and photographs, which will be maintained on file by the school in the event of an unfortunate incident involving one of their children.
The NCMEC and FLEOA consider the protection of our children to be one of the greatest challenges law enforcement and the community faces today. Being able to quickly broadcast a photograph of a child to law enforcement entities across the State of Arizona or the United States, is a significant step in doing everything possible to locate a missing child as soon as possible.
