Bankside Chambers’ Laura O’Gorman has been appointed to the High Court.

Justice O’Gorman went to the University of Auckland in 1996, attaining a BCom/LLB (Hons) degree before working at Buddle Findlay until 1998.
She obtained an LLM from the University of Cambridge in 1999. Subsequently, during the year 2000, she gained experience at a law firm located in Jersey within the Channel Islands.
She rejoined Buddle Findlay as a senior solicitor in 2001 and later a partner.
She joined Bankside Chambers in 2019 with a legal practice spanning commercial litigation, underscoring her expertise in areas such as insolvency, competition law, judicial review and statutory appeals, conflict of laws, company law, and contractual disputes.
The commencement of her new role is October 23, 2023.
