DALLAS – LawFuel.com – Legal 500, the international online referral source for attorneys, highlights Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP’s Bankruptcy, Antitrust and Real Estate practices in its 2009 edition.
The online resource, which attracts more than 450,000 users per month, highlights both practice areas and individuals at the firm. Gardere’s profile can be found here.
Gardere’s antitrust practice is “well-regarded by the market for challenging antitrust litigation,” the publication noted, adding that Gardere partners Curtis Frisbie and Mark Bayer “are both highly rated antitrust attorneys.”
The firm’s Real Estate practice “retain[s] the broad coverage that has kept them competitive in the market,” Legal 500 wrote, adding that “market sources note that ‘they are still one of the most respected names among the Dallas competition.’”
“Hospitality has been a valuable area of expertise for the firm, where it has extended its record of picking up work with national companies such as Hilton, as well as acting on the development of cultural institutions and sports complexes,” the publication writes. “In addition, the group has continued to represent many large Texas companies who fall on the corporate side of transactions, taking advantage of the firm’s strong ties to big local business to generate spin-off work.”
The publication singled out partners Kevin Kelley, “a great leader for the practice,” and W. Robert Dyer, “one of the strongest real estate lawyers, particularly in Dallas.”
Partner Deirdre Ruckman, who heads the firm’s bankruptcy practice, was also cited for her expertise in financial restructuring and workouts. Of Gardere’s bankruptcy practice, Legal 500 said the firm has “represented debtors including Senior Management Services of America in successful Chapter 11 proceedings as well as advising in cross-border insolvencies such as MuscleTech Research and Development.”
Gardere Managing Partner Steve Good calls the firm’s inclusion in Legal 500 “gratifying.”
“Clearly, Legal 500 did its homework,” he said. “Their profile demonstrates a substantive understanding of the legal work we do, and the quality that’s behind it. It’s exactly the kind of information clients need when selecting counsel.”
