Gardere’s Spaniol Elected to Literacy Board

DALLAS (LAWFUEL) – Attorney Andrew Spaniol, an associate in the Dallas office of Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, has been elected to a two-year term on the Board of Directors for Literacy Instruction for Texas (LIFT).

Founded in 1961 by the local chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women, LIFT is now one of the largest and most respected adult literacy education programs in the United States. In the past year, LIFT served more than 8,000 adult learners through Adult Literacy, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Family Literacy programs.

“It does not matter why someone cannot read English, once they come to LIFT the only goal is to help them learn to read,” says Mr. Spaniol. “When a person has the ability to read, it opens the door to a better life for the individual and at the same time strengthens the entire community.”

Mr. Spaniol practices in Gardere’s Trial Section, handling issues involving antitrust, intellectual property, class-action and general commercial litigation matters. In addition to his work with LIFT, he is a volunteer Reader for the Blind.
