Homicides prosecutors have been called into the Anna Nicole Smith case, according to reports in the Miami Herald.
Seminole police will not comment on the nature of the discussions that have been held, according to Broward chief state attorney Chuck Morton.
The Herald reported Seminole Police Captain Robert McDaniel cautioning against making conclusions about meeting with homicide investigations since there is still no evidence of foul play in the case.
”Those [homicide prosecutors] are the people, [that] if you were doing a death investigation and needed to speak with someone from the State Attorney’s office, you would go to,” said McDaniel.
“We have never had any indication of foul play. There is nothing that we have uncovered that would lead us in that direction.”
In addition, the commissioner of the Royal Bahamas Police Force is now in South Florida, meeting with the Seminoles on Smith’s death, authorities said today. Smith died in the Bahamas and there is therefore a mutual interest in the case.
The TMZ website reported that Anna’s bodyguard, Big Moe, was interviewed by Seminole cops last week. TMZ reported that Big Moe told the cops that Howard K. Stern had given Anna drugs during the last months of her life.
It was not known what is being discussed, but last week, it was revealed that the Seminole police had two new pieces of evidence in the case that they wanted to explore, thus holding up the medical examiner’s final report on the case.
Broward County Medical Examiner Joshua Perper has yet to announce what caused Smith’s death Feb. 8 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
