HOUSTON–LAWFUEL – US Business & Law –Bracewell & Giuliani LLP recently represented European renewable energy company Naturener S.A. in its acquisition of 100 percent of the capital of Energy Logics, Inc. and Great Plains Wind & Energy, LLC. Naturener plans to develop 1,800 megawatts of wind energy in Alberta and Montana between 2007 and 2012, with a total estimated investment of $3 billion.

With this recent acquisition, Spanish-based Naturener solidified itself as a player in the North American renewable energy industry. “We’re pleased to have represented Naturener S.A. in this transaction,” said Bracewell & Giuliani partner Jose Luis Vittor, who assisted Naturener’s management on the analysis of the United States renewable market. “This is a continuing demonstration of our depth and expertise in representing European companies as they enter into the United States and Canadian markets.”

Naturener S.A. is owned by the Belgian industrial group, SAPEC (indirectly through the Tharis Group), the Spanish savings bank Caja Castilla La Mancha, and a private investor based in New York. In Spain, Naturener has developed hydroelectric, solar and wind energy projects. With the purchase of Energy Logics and Great Plains, Naturener enters the wind energy market in North America.
