According to reports by train accident lawyers in Orange County, some of the details of the Anaheim fatal train collision have been released. The vehicle was struck at approximately 5:50 p.m. in the vicinity of the tracks that run in the Orangetorpe Avenue, at Lakeview Avenue area according to Sgt. Rick Marinez of the Anaheim Police Department.
Sgt. Martinez stated the woman’s vehicle became stuck on the tracks when she attempted to make a turn onto Orangethrop Avenue. The authorities now believe she had been trying to turn onto the street, which runs parallel to the railroad tracks and turned onto the tracks accidentally. This is when they believe the vehicle may have become stuck on the tracks in a way the vehicle could not get traction to move.
The Orange County Coroners Office has released the identity of the woman whose car was struck on the train tracks after the woman identified as 68 year old Linda Kruger-Small a resident of Lake Forest.
Prior to the collision a witness called 911 to relay Kruger-Small’s situation and also attempt to help her from the vehicle before the collision. After the train stuck the vehicle this person helped Kruger-Small from the car. She was transported by paramedics to Kaiser-Permanente Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
The oncoming train operator applied the breaks but could not stop before the train struck the vehicle. the operator also sounded the horn. The authorities are still investigating the collision and are still unsure why Kruger-Small could not leave the vehicle prior to the collision
