International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges is significantly strengthening its tax and competition law capabilities in the Paris office and is announcing the following:

Stéphane Chaouat joins the Paris office on 2 June from Cleary, Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton to head up its tax practice. He will be supported by Jean-Charles Béroard, who will be joining the tax team from Jones Day as a senior associate, and by Ariane Monteil, currently a tax associate at Weil Gotshal & Manges. Stéphane, a recognized expert in French and international tax law, has worked on numerous, high-profile merger and acquisitions, private equity, restructuring and finance transactions in the Paris market.

Cyrille Couadou is joining from Freshfields to head up Weil Gotshal’s competition law practice in the Paris office later this summer. He is bringing with him senior associates Maria Trabucchi and Frédéric Fuchs, also from Freshfields.
