Philadelphia, Pa. (LAWFUEL) – January 20, 2009 – Joan C. Arnold, a partner with Pepper Hamilton LLP and chair of the firm’s Tax Practice Group, has been elected to the Board of Regents of the American College of Tax Counsel, the organization’s governing body, representing the Third Circuit. She has been a Fellow of the College since 1999.
Ms. Arnold practices in Pepper Hamilton’s Philadelphia office and focuses on federal and international income tax matters. She is listed in The Best Lawyers in America.
A leader in a number of other bar and trade organizations, Ms. Arnold is vice president and a member of the executive committee of the U.S. Branch of the International Fiscal Association, president of the Philadelphia Tax Conference, and a member of the executive committee of the George Washington University Law School/IRS Annual International Tax Institute.
She is a past chair of the American Bar Association Tax Section’s Committee on U.S. Activities of Foreigners and Tax Treaties, immediate past chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Tax Section, and a former instructor in the Graduate Tax Program at Villanova University School of Law, where she taught for 23 years.
She is a frequent speaker at private equity tax conferences and other tax programs.
The American College of Tax Counsel (www.actconline.org) is a nonprofit professional association of approximately 700 tax lawyers in private practice, in law school teaching positions and in government, who are recognized for their excellence in tax practice and for their substantial contributions and commitment to the profession. The College is governed by a Board of Regents consisting of one Regent from each federal judicial circuit and two Regents at-large.
