Former Thelen Partner Joins Growing New York Office
NEW YORK (December 16 – LAWFUEL)—Kilpatrick Stockton, a leading international law firm, announced today that it has continued its expansion of its highly-regarded Complex Business Litigation Team with the addition of a new litigation partner in New York. Jonathan E. Polonsky joined Kilpatrick Stockton on December 1, 2008 after 18 years as a partner at Thelen LLP.
“I am excited about the opportunities for growing my practice at Kilpatrick Stockton and serving my existing clients,” said Jon Polonsky. “Kilpatrick Stockton has a national reputation as an outstanding business litigation firm. With my focus on securities and financial services litigation and business reorganization and creditors’ rights work, I am looking forward to assisting Kilpatrick Stockton’s strong base of business and financial services clients with their litigation and bankruptcy needs in New York. What attracted me to Kilpatrick is that it has the depth and breadth of experience and resources to serve large business clients in a wide range of complex matters, while retaining a collegiality, entrepreneurial philosophy, and spirit of personal client service not often found in a firm its size, together with a strong commitment to pro bono and community service. And it was critically important to me that the firm has shown its commitment to New York and to growing our practice here.”
“Jon is an impressive lawyer and adds new depth to our business litigation capabilities in New York,” said partner Mike Crisp, Chair of Kilpatrick Stockton’s Complex Business Litigation Team. “He has a wealth of experience litigating in federal and state courts in New York for more than 25 years that will be invaluable to our existing clients. We look forward to expanding our relationships with his clients and contacts around the country. The plan for the business litigation practice in New York is to add lawyers selectively based on existing client needs. With the increased level of work for clients in New York this year we needed another highly-skilled, experienced litigation partner with exceptional credentials. Jon is just what we needed.”
Jon’s wide-range of litigation experience includes practicing in the areas of commercial dispute resolution and litigation, securities litigation and class actions (on both the plaintiff and defense sides), bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, directors’ and officers’ liability (again, on both the plaintiff and defense sides), international disputes, mass torts, products liability and consumer products testing and regulation.
Jon earned his J.D. from Yale Law School (1982) and his A.B. from Harvard (1979). Prior to entering private practice, he served as a Senior Trial Attorney and Assistant District Attorney in the Economic Crimes Bureau of the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.
