Law Firm Andres Kurth LLP Continues Expansion of Austin Office

(AUSTIN) – (LAWFUEL) – Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that Jerry E. Turner has joined the firm’s Austin office as a Partner in the Public Finance and Corporate sections.

Turner has over 33 years of experience in public finance serving as senior attorney for various public clients, including state agencies, university systems, cities, counties, transit authorities, and other political subdivisions. His experience includes serving as bond counsel and underwriters’ counsel in connection with municipal bond offerings. He has represented clients in structured finance transactions benefiting tax-exempt entities, particularly tax-advantaged lease/leaseback or sale/leaseback transactions. He also represents various public funds in connection with their investment activities.

Turner is a Regent of the Texas Tech University System. His other civic activities currently include service as a member of the Board of Governors of the St. David’s Partnership and Chairman of the Baptist Foundation of Texas, Inc. His professional activities have included service as President of the American College of Bond Counsel.

Turner earned his J.D. in 1971 from Vanderbilt University School of Law, where he received the Patrick Wilson Merit Scholarship and was Managing Editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review, and a member of Phi Delta Phi and the Order of the Coif. He received his B.A. from Texas Tech University in 1968, where he was captain of the varsity football team. He also served in the United States Navy in the JAG Corps from 1971-1974.

He has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America in public finance law from 2005-2009 and as a “Texas Super Lawyer” in bonds and government finance law by Texas Monthly, 2004-2007.
