In addition, the firm announced the appointment of one London Partner and the appointment of fourteen lawyers to the position of counsel, also effective as of January 1, 2008.
Newly Elected Partners
Ana M. Alfonso’s (Business Reorganization and Creditors’ Rights, New York) practice focuses on the representation of corporate debtors in and out of bankruptcy. Ms. Alfonso also has substantial experience representing individual and corporate clients in bankruptcy-related litigation.
Victoria A. Gilbert (Corporate & Finance, Los Angeles) concentrates her practice in commercial law, primarily in the areas of secured lending and private banking. She represents banks, finance companies, leasing companies, venture capital investors, insurance companies and borrowers in a wide range of financing transactions and investments.
Jeffrey Horowitz (Litigation, New York) is an experienced trial lawyer who represents a wide range of clients in major product liability, patent and other complex litigation, and also counsels clients on litigation avoidance. Mr. Horowitz previously served as an Assistant Attorney General with the State of New York Office of the Attorney General.
Christopher T. Jagoe’s (Litigation, New York) practice focuses on patent litigation and counseling related to biotechnology, pharmaceutical and chemical matters. Mr. Jagoe’s range of experience includes organic synthesis of natural products, fluoropolymers, transgenic crops and insecticides, and ultrasound contrast agents.
Manvin Mayell (Litigation, New York) is an experienced civil litigator whose practice focuses on commercial litigation, major product liability matters, antitrust and breach of contract litigation. Mr. Mayell, a former Assistant US Attorney, is also experienced in white collar litigation, including representing clients in internal investigations of alleged accounting fraud and government investigations under the federal False Claims Act.
Thomas Yadlon (Corporate & Finance, New York) focuses his practice on acquisitions and divestitures of publicly held and private companies and other commercial transactions, including public and private equity and debt offerings and investments, joint ventures and licensing agreements. Mr. Yadlon also counsels publicly held and private companies on a variety of general corporate matters, including securities laws compliance and governance matters.

David A. Jonathan Arkins (Corporate & Finance, New York) represents financial institutions in domestic and cross-border asset-backed securitizations and secured lending. Mr. Arkins has participated in transactions involving the securitization of diverse asset types, including lottery receivables, trade receivables, equipment rental receivables and other varied receivables. He also represents financial institutions in connection with investment fund financing, including subscription lines, and is also experienced in more traditional forms of leveraged and secured lending.
Mark R. Brown (Trusts and Estates, West Palm Beach) focuses on sophisticated estate planning and administration matters, including change of domicile, family limited partnerships, charitable giving, business succession, retirement assets, and preparation and audit of federal estate tax returns.
H. Stephen Castro (Business Reorganization and Creditors’ Rights, New York) focuses his practice primarily on the representation of secured and unsecured creditors in out-of-court loan workouts, restructurings and recovery of syndicated loan facilities. He has extensive experience advising multinational financial institutions on the wide range of issues confronting creditors, including strategies for the conversion of debt to equity, restructuring debt acquired at a discount, cross-border insolvency matters and asset dispositions in the insolvency context.
Peter Fratangelo (Litigation, New York) focuses his practice on complex patent litigation involving pharmaceuticals, biologics and genetically modified agricultural products. He has extensive experience managing large teams of junior lawyers and trying complex matters in both jury and bench trials.
Alan K. Glantz (Corporate & Finance, New York) represents financial institutions, private equity sponsors and corporate borrowers in a broad range of commercial lending transactions. His experience includes domestic and cross-border leveraged acquisition financings, cash-flow and asset-based financings, public and private debt issuances, debtor-in-possession financings, Chapter 11 exit financings, recapitalizations, restructurings and workouts.
Jason Hoffman (Litigation, Washington, DC) is an experienced litigator, concentrating his practice in intellectual property matters with a particular focus on patent litigation. He has been involved in some of the nation’s most significant patent cases in the last five years, and has been successful in jury trials on behalf of both plaintiff and defendant.
Rachel S. Kless (Real Estate, New York) is experienced in all areas of commercial real estate development and finance with a primary focus on real estate capital markets transactions, including the representation of investment banks and other institutional lenders in the origination and securitization of first mortgage debt, mezzanine loans, and preferred and common equity investments.
Robert R. Laurenzi’s (Litigation, New York) practice focuses on all aspects of patent litigation related to telecommunications, computer and networking technologies. His range of experience includes semiconductor devices, high frequency antenna and optical device design. Mr. Laurenzi also has substantial experience counseling clients in pre-litigation investigations and intellectual property management matters.
William M. Lonergan (Corporate & Finance, New York) focuses his practice on corporate and securities law matters, including mergers and acquisitions, public offerings and private equity investments. Michael D. Messersmith (Business Reorganization and Creditors’ Rights, Chicago) represents financial institutions, institutional investors, funds, investment companies and other investors in distressed situations and bankruptcy proceedings. He also represents troubled companies and court-appointed receivers as well as committees of creditors, lenders and other interested parties in workouts and reorganizations throughout the United States.
