CHICAGO, October 17, 2007 – LAWFUEL – Lawyer Announcements – Winston & Strawn LLP announced today that Richard S. Williamson has joined its Chicago office as a partner and will focus his practice on government relations, international trade and regulatory issues. He represents clients before the United States (U.S.) Congress, foreign countries, and federal agencies and departments in legislative matters, including rule making and administrative hearings. He serves as an advocate before State of Illinois departments and regulatory agencies.

Commission on Human Rights; U.S. Ambassador and Alternate Representative to the U.N. for Special Political Affairs; Assistant Secretary of State, International Organization Affairs with the U.S. State Department; U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Offices in Vienna; and Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs in The White House during the Reagan administration.

Williamson has been awarded numerous prestigious honors, including the Superior Honor Award (in both 2004 and 1989) and the Foreign Affairs Award for Public Service given by the U.S. State Department, the Global Leadership Award from Enterprise Works Worldwide and the Award of Merit from The Boy Scouts of America.

He is a prolific writer, having authored seven books, and more than 175 articles. He also served as editor of three additional books. He is extremely active in civic organizations and has held numerous leadership roles since the 1980s. Williamson received a juris doctor from the University of Virginia where he was executive editor of The Virginia Journal of International Law. He earned his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Princeton University.
