Award recognizes company’s dedication to the public safety community with its line of Toughbook® computing solutions
SAN DIEGO– LAWFUEL – The Law Newswire –Law Officer Magazine, published by Elsevier Public Safety, is proud to announce Panasonic Computer Solutions Company, manufacturer of Panasonic Toughbook® mobile computers, as the 2007 recipient of the Gold Badge of Service Award. This annual award recognizes a company that best demonstrates a model of commitment and service to the public safety community.
“After more than 30 years of police work, I’ve been involved with just about every kind of company and vendor you can imagine. I’ve been extremely impressed by the level of commitment to public safety the Panasonic folks have repeatedly demonstrated,” said Dale Stockton, Editor of Law Officer. “They continually model an attitude of service and support to those in public safety.”
The award was presented by Stockton to Panasonic Computer Solutions Company during the International Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by Law Officer Magazine for our commitment to supporting the public safety community,” said Jan Ruderman, Senior Director, Government Sector for Panasonic Computer Solutions Company. “We are continuously inspired by the dedication and resourcefulness of our more than 5,000 law enforcement customers to keep streets safe, and proud to provide reliable mobile computing solutions that meet their needs.”
Panasonic Computer Solutions Company is a leader in providing durable, reliable mobile computing and digital video recording solutions for public safety agencies. Products include the Toughbook 30 rugged notebook, with unprecedented screen brightness for mounting in police vehicles, and the Toughbook Arbitrator for dependable in-car digital video recording.
During this year’s National Police Week, Panasonic Computer Solutions Company pledged $1 million to support the new “A Day in the Life” exhibit, a part of the “Being an Officer” gallery in the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial. This exhibit will help visitors to the Memorial understand the challenges faced by our nation’s law enforcement officers.
After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, one of the biggest challenges was documenting the condition of damaged structures throughout the New Orleans area and the FEMA paperwork was overwhelming for the small code-enforcement staff. Accela, a land management and public safety software company, developed an automated process that could help, but it needed field computers to make it happen in the toughest of conditions. “Panasonic provided a lot of Toughbook computers and support with no strings attached. I can’t say enough about the way they helped with this effort,” said Richard Morrey, Accela’s chief technology officer. Together, Accela and Panasonic Computer Solutions Company helped the staff document the conditions of more than 125,000 structures in a few weeks, a task that was originally estimated to take several months.
Stockton commented, “Recognizing effort and commitment that goes above and beyond is important because what gets recognized often gets repeated by others. Panasonic Computer Solutions Company has definitely set a standard to which others can aspire.”
