Lawfuel – See ‘Hot Gossip’ – We’ve long admired the English for their ability to turn out top-drawer sitcoms and drama – often displayed in real life. Take the recent case, reported in the London ‘Times’, where a Cambridge-educated barrister has won half of a £2.5 million farm after a vicious legal battle with her father during which she claimed that he admired Hitler and that he had called her a prostitute.
The Judge ruled that the barrister’s father, Bill Walker (what could be more English?) had maladministered a trust set up for his daughters by putting pressure on his 28-year-old daughter, Jane, to cede her right to the farm in Nottinghamshire until she was 40.
