LAWFUEL – The Law Newswire – Jailed heiress Paris Hilton has recommended the world focus on more important issues than hers, such as the war in Iraq, while she works on herself to ‘learn and grow’.
Hilton’s lawyers said she would not appeal her 45-day jail sentence for a probation violation in a reckless driving case.
Hilton’s statement thanked fans for sending her mail and said she loves and misses her family.
“I must also say that I was shocked to see all of the attention devoted to the amount of time I would spend in jail for what I had done by the media, public and city officials,” her statement concluded. “I would hope going forward that the public and the media will focus on more important things like the men and women serving our country in Iraq and other places around the world.”
Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said he had not seen the statement and could not discuss it.
Although Whitmore would not discuss Hilton’s condition, citing privacy laws, Baca indicated at a news conference on Friday that it was psychological.
