LAWFUEL – UK Law News – International law firm Eversheds’ Newcastle office has announced that it has acted on the completion of the ground-breaking campus relocation of Middlesbrough College – the largest college in Tees Valley, which will see a brand new £68m campus built in the hub of the Teesside community.
A multi-disciplinary law team from Eversheds has been involved in almost all of the aspects of the legal work. Eversheds was engaged to design and deliver the procurement process, secure funding as well as delivering on the contractual work to secure the parallel sale of existing sites to a house-builder. Eversheds also advised on all professional appointments and the building contract for the development as well as resolving all third party rights and issues, along with advising on the town and country planning issues associated with a project of this magnitude.
Eversheds’ Consultant Colin Crossman who co-ordinated the legal team, which included property specialist Nick Todd and construction specialist Chris Henshaw, commented on this appointment:

“The relocation of Middlesbrough College is not only great news for the some 20,000 students who are expected to transfer to and enrol in this state of the art, modern campus but also for the local community and economy. The new building is in the heart of the Middlehaven Dockland regeneration scheme in which Eversheds have been involved with other clients including Cleveland Police Authority, English Partnerships, One NorthEast and Tees Valley Regeneration.”

The multi-million pound campus will replace four existing campuses at Marton, Longlands, Acklam and Kirby.
