Arrival of Hopkinson Signals Further Diversification and Continued Expansion of Corporate Capabilities

NEW YORK– LAWFUEL – Legal Newswire -Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, one of the world’s leading law firms, announced today that R. Ronald Hopkinson, a leading private equity legal advisor, will join the firm as a partner in the Corporate Department in the New York office. Mr. Hopkinson has played a significant role in some of the largest leveraged buyouts and private equity transactions consummated in the marketplace.

“As part of Cadwalader’s diversification efforts, a key strategy has been to expand our Corporate Department, already a major player in public M&A and corporate governance, through the development of a market-leading private equity practice. By capitalizing on Ron’s strong relationships and outstanding reputation in the private equity community, and Cadwalader’s deep ties in the financial community, we anticipate building a top tier private equity practice,” said Robert O. Link, Jr., the Chairman and Managing Partner of Cadwalader.

“Ron’s experience as counsel in high-profile transactions on behalf of some of the world’s largest private equity firms and private equity consortiums, as well as his work with leading corporations in major acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate restructurings, will be instrumental in further enhancing the Corporate Department’s breadth of services,” said Louis J. Bevilacqua, Chairman of Cadwalader’s Corporate Department.

Mr. Hopkinson noted that “Cadwalader offers a tremendous platform for developing a leading private equity practice. The firm has a team of attorneys well-known for complex transactional work, industry expertise in areas as diverse as financial services regulation and health care that are critical to industry-focused funds, and long-standing relationships with prominent financial institutions whose private equity arms will continue to become significant players in the financial markets. I very much look forward to partnering with my new colleagues, including Dennis Block and Lou Bevilacqua, to take advantage of these opportunities and to provide clients with the legal counsel they need in this challenging economic environment.”
