London – LawFuel.com – Legal News Network – DLA Piper has advised Kaupthing Bank HF on its funding to Refresco, a major European manufacturer of fruit and soft drinks in order for it to acquire Histogram Ltd (“Histogram”), a UK soft drinks business based in Durham.
This latest acquisition by Refresco comes just a month after it finalised arrangements to acquire Kentpol, another soft drinks manufacturer in Poland.
Kaupthing Bank acted as mandated lead arranger of the secondary buy-out of Refresco in June 2006 and continues to provide debt support for Refresco’s buy and build programme.
Kaupthing Bank has been a client of DLA Piper for several years.
John Cutler, DLA Piper’s lead banking partner on the deal commented: “This was an important transaction for Refresco as it is it’s first acquisition in the UK and follows their other recent acquisition of Kentpol in Poland where we also supported Kaupthing Bank. The Group is pursuing a vigorous buy and build project across Europe in its pursuance of becoming number one in the soft beverages private labels market.”
