The Manatt summer program provides each student with an opportunity to experience the challenges and rewards of the legal profession. Summer associates work with a mentor team, and are given work assignments based on their expressed areas of interest. The result is a highly customized program suited to the individual student.

2006 SUMMER ASSOCIATES, LOS ANGELES
Sirena Castillo is a member of the law school class of 2008 at the University of Southern California. She earned a B.S. in Russian Language and an M.A. in Russian and European Studies from Georgetown University, where she was the 2002 Presidential Management Fellow. Sirena has also studied at St. Petersburg State University in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation. Prior to law school, Sirena worked for the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Department of Defense and the Office of the County Attorney in Hawaii. Sirena speaks Russian and Spanish fluently.
Brian Collins is a member of the law school class of 2007 at New York University, where he is the Articles Editor of the New York University Law Review. Brian is active in the Latino Law Students Association, the Coalition for Legal Recruiting and the Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law Society. Brian is also a Thurgood Marshall Associate for the Council on Legal Education Opportunity. A fluent Spanish speaker, Brian earned his B.A. degree in Communications from the University of California, Davis in 2004. Prior to law school, he was active as a campaign manager and was a volunteer mentor for AmeriCorps “Cool School” Program, serving as an after-school mentor/translator to local elementary school children.
Cameron Fredman is the new Editor-in-Chief of the Loyola Law Review at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, where he is a member of the class of 2007. He earned his B.A. in English from the University of Southern California in 2000. Prior to law school, Cameron was the Director of Product Development & Strategy for Propseeker, a company that scans and archives prophouse material for resale. In 2005, Cameron was a research assistant for Professor Lucie White at Harvard Law School and for Professor Karl Manheim at Loyola Law School.
Justin Johnson is a member of the 2007 law school class at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he is a 1L student mentor, law skills writing advisor and volunteer with the HIV/AIDS Legal Housing Clinic. He earned his B.A. in Political Science and Legal Studies in 2004 from the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated with high honors and Phi Beta Kappa.
Scott Nichols is a member of the law school class of 2007 at the University of California, Berkeley. Scott is President of the Sports & Entertainment Law Society, and he serves as a staff editor of the Journal of International Law. He is also active with the East Bay Community Law Clinic. Scott received a B.S. in Business Administration and a B.A. in Mass Communication, also from the University of California, Berkeley in 2003.
Funmi Olorunnipa is a member of the law school class of 2007 at the University of California, Berkeley. A past co-president of the Boalt Student Bar Association, Funmi is a member of the Journal of Labor and Employment Law and the African American Law and Policy Report. She is also working on a master’s degree in Public Policy at Harvard University, where she will graduate in 2007. She earned her B.A. in Political Science and her B.S. in Public Relations from the University of Florida, Gainesville in 2003. Funmi served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Marilyn S. Patel in San Francisco.
Marco Riggi is a member of the law school class of 2007 at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he is the Chief Managing Editor of the Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs, staff member of the Sexual Orientation Law Review and a member of the Entertainment Law Review. Marco is fluent in German, and he received his B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2004. While at UCLA, Marco interned for AIDS Project Los Angeles and California State Senator Sheila J. Kuehl. He also worked as a research assistant to Stanford University Professor Kenneth Schultz on a project funded by the National Science Foundation.
Melissa Sanchez is a member of the law school class of 2007 at Columbia Law School, where she is the Alumni Chair for the Latino Law Students Association. Melissa’s prior work experience includes working for California State Assembly Members Mark Ridley-Thomas and Sarah Reyes, as well as for the United States Department of Agriculture. Melissa received her B.A. in 2004 from the University of California, Davis, where she was a Regents Scholar. She speaks Spanish and French and has studied abroad at the Universite Michel de Montaigne in Bordeaux, France.

Tiffani Brown is a member of the class of 2008 at New York University, where she is a Dean’s Scholarship recipient and a member of the Black Allied Law Students Association and the International Law Society. She earned an M.A. in International Relations from Yale University in 2005 and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Southern California in 2000. Tiffani has previously interned with Morgan Stanley and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Tiffani is participating in a unique program where she will divide her summer associate program between Manatt and Goldman Sachs.
Sabrina Charles is a member of the law school class of 2007 at Yale University, where she is Editor of the Yale Law Journal and Executive Editor of the Yale Journal of Health Law, Policy and Ethics. She is also working on a master’s in Public Policy at Harvard, where she will graduate in 2007. Sabrina received a B.A. in Afro-American and African Studies from the University of Michigan in 2001. Prior to law school, Sabrina worked for the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Jonathan Solorzano is a member of the law school class of 2008 at Columbia University. He earned a B.A. in Political Science, with honors, from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2004. Prior to law school, Jonathan spent a year with the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation as a writer and web and graphic designer.
2006 SUMMER ASSOCIATE, ALBANY, NEW YORK
Jerald Sharum is a member of the class of 2008 at Albany Law School. He is also working on a master’s in Public Affairs and Policy at the University of Albany. He earned his B.A. degree in Classical Studies in 2004 from the University of Arkansas, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. Jerald has served as a law clerk for Justice Leslie Stein in the New York State Supreme Court.
