New York, November 11, 2010 – Lowenstein Sandler welcomes insurance litigator Joseph Jean as a Member based in its New York office. He joins Lowenstein Sandler from Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman, where he had been Special Counsel.
Mr. Jean, 38, represents businesses and policyholders across the country in litigation and alternative dispute resolution involving insurance coverage and complex commercial matters. Lowenstein Sandler’s clients will have the benefit of his experience in general and product liability, employment issues, toxic torts, property damage and business interruption. Mr. Jean also advises on insurance coverage and liability issues that arise during purchases and sales of assets and mergers and acquisitions.

Active in pro bono matters, Mr. Jean serves as national counsel for a non-profit professional association and provides insurance advice to Human Rights Watch. He has also argued criminal appeals and petitions for indigent clients in state and federal jurisdictions. Mr. Jean earned a B.A. from Trinity College and a J.D., cum laude, from Vermont Law School.
Lowenstein Sandler also recently announced the addition of renowned white collar defense attorney Ira Lee (“Ike”) Sorkin and securities litigator Donald Corbett, who both joined as Members in the firm’s New York office, and venture capital/tech attorney Matt Kirmayer, who joined as a Member in the firm’s Palo Alto office.
