Mark Bain Named Global Director of Communications for Baker & McKenzie

Chicago, October 9, 2007 – LAWFUEL – The Law Firm Newswire – Baker & McKenzie today named Mark Bain its first Global Director of Communications. Mr. Bain will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy to build the Firm’s brand reputation around the world. He will be based in Chicago and will report to John Conroy, Chairman of the Firm’s Executive Committee.

Mr. Bain brings nearly 30 years of international agency and in-house corporate experience, along with brand-management thought leadership to this newly created role.

He spent nearly 16 years in international client service and management positions at Burson-Marsteller, a leading global public relations and public affairs firm, with stints in Burson’s New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Tokyo offices.

He led the global corporate communications function at privately held Alticor Inc. for a decade before starting his own consulting firm specializing in corporate communications strategy and reputation management in 2006. In addition, he served as a Senior Advisor to the Reputation Institute in New York from 2006-07, with a focus on business development and client planning.

Mr. Bain has won two Silver Anvil Awards, the top honor of the Public Relations Society of America. In 2005, the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations gave Mr. Bain one of its two Distinguished Service Awards at the trade organization’s triennial World Congress. Mr. Bain’s Alticor division won PR Week’s Large Corporate Team of the Year Award for 2005. Also in 2005, Alticor’s global cause, which Mr. Bain helped create and lead, received the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Corporate Citizenship Award. Mr. Bain is a member of the Arthur W. Page Society and serves on the Council of PR Firms’ Client Advisory Committee.

This marked the Firm’s third consecutive year of double-digit revenue growth and the third consecutive year that the Firm’s rate of revenue growth accelerated. The Firm also reported its profits per partner (PPP) above the US$1 million level for the first time. The Firm raised PPP by 63% since adopting a more focused global Firm Strategy three years ago.

Mr. Bain graduated from the University of Utah, where he taught the school’s first course on corporate reputation management in 2004. He is married and has two teenage sons.
