May 11th, 2007 – LawJobsPipeline.Blog – Linklaters just fired three associates in Portugal after discovering they were setting up a firm on the quiet for a major competitor. The Lawyer reports that the lawyers and their secret project (”Project Iberia”) was saved on the desktop of a laptop, detailing the plans.
Jorge Bleck, Linklaters’ corporate head in Portugal, said: “[The document] makes a specific reference to a major international law firm with the name blanked out.” The associates are banking lawyer Antonio Payan Martins, tax lawyer Patrick De Werbe and Francisco Almeida in capital markets.
