Michael Pilkington, Insurance and Reinsurance Partner Joins Holman Fenwick & Willan In Dubai

LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – Michael Pilkington joins international law firm Holman Fenwick & Willan’s (HFW) Dubai office, as a Partner, from Clyde & Co. Michael will be focusing in particular on the firm’s insurance and reinsurance practice in the Middle East in the context of his extensive commercial litigation and arbitration experience.

HFW’s Dubai office has experienced strong growth in the last 12 months, and Michael’s arrival will enable further expansion and development of one of the office’s core areas of practice. The office has one of the leading, and largest, dedicated dispute resolution practices of the international law firms operating in the Gulf.

Michael was a Partner with Clyde & Co for eleven years and held the post of Managing Partner, Hong Kong, from 2001 to 2006. He relocated to Hong Kong in 1995 having spent three years in Clyde & Co’s Dubai office from 1992 to 1995.

Michael comments, ‘I am very pleased to be joining HFW’s expanding Dubai office. It is in an area of the world which is booming on the back of massive investments in the UAE and the surrounding region. A myriad of projects are transforming not only Dubai but the entire region. I am looking forward to returning to Dubai where I spent three great years earlier in my career.’

Richard Crump, Senior Partner, is pleased to welcome Michael, saying ‘HFW is fortunate to recruit such an experienced and respected lawyer as Michael and we are looking forward to the added contribution he can make in our Dubai office.’

In addition to insurance and reinsurance, the Dubai office focuses on the firm’s core areas of shipping and transport, trade and energy and corporate and commercial work. In other internal moves, Richard Jowett, an insurance and reinsurance partner recently relocated from HFW Dubai to HFW Melbourne and Chris Quennell, a trade and energy partner, has also relocated from HFW Melbourne to HFW Dubai.
