NEW YORK, Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ — DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary US LLP today announced it will now be known as DLA Piper effective September 4, 2006. The change comes 20 months after the historic merger between law firms Piper Rudnick, Gray Cary Ware and Freidenrich and DLA, and reflects the name the majority of the firm’s attorneys and clients have utilized for the last several months. In the U.S., the legal name of the firm will be DLA Piper US LLP.
“Shortening our name to DLA Piper was always a goal associated with the 2005 merger,” said Francis B. Burch Jr., Joint Chief Executive Officer of DLA Piper. “In order to retain the name recognition and brand equity associated with each legacy firm following the merger, our name became DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary. With that transition firmly behind us and after more than a year of serving clients as a merged entity, it is an ideal time to shorten our name to align with the name the market already recognizes.”
“Our strategy is to establish a strong global brand that reflects the growing portfolio of recurring, high-level work we are performing today for major institutional clients across multiple geographies,” added Burch. “We believe our platform, combined with the breadth and depth of our core practice areas, provides a clear point of differentiation in the market.”
DLA Piper offers a full range of legal services through a set of core U.S. practice groups that include Real Estate, Litigation, Corporate and Finance, Intellectual Property and Government Affairs.
