Ober|Kaler’s Cohen Appointed to State Health Care Task Force

BALTIMORE, MD (LAWFUEL) – May 15, 2009 Marc K. Cohen, a principal in the Baltimore-based law firm Ober|Kaler, has been appointed by Governor Martin O’Malley to the Task Force on the Discipline of Health Care Professionals & Improved Patient Care.

Established by newly enacted legislation, the Task Force is charged with issuing recommendations for improvements and changes to the health care disciplinary process followed by the Maryland Board of Physicians and other health care licensing boards. The Task Force has made substantial recommendations as to how to improve the organizational structure of the health care boards and ways to more speedily and fairly resolve health care disciplinary issues in this state. These recommendations are to be implemented by legislative mandate, various changes in Board and Department of Health and Mental Hygiene regulations, and policy changes.

A member of Ober|Kaler’s Health Law Group, Mr. Cohen is an experienced health care attorney. He has testified at numerous hearings recommending needed changes to state licensing laws for Maryland health care professionals.
