Counsel brings specific expertise in ITC Section 337 matters and the Federal courts

Washington, D.C., July 21, 2011… Latham & Watkins LLP1 is pleased to announce that Mark Koehn has joined the firm’s Washington D.C. office as counsel in the Litigation Department. Koehn, a registered patent attorney, has extensive experience litigating in Federal District courts throughout the country, as well as before the International Trade Commission (ITC) and Court of Federal Claims.

Koehn focuses on a broad range of technologies including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, software, and electronics, including for consumers, industrial, and military applications. Alice Fisher, Office Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins in Washington D.C., said: “I am delighted to welcome Mark to Latham & Watkins. He is a talented litigator with a particular expertise that will fit right into our Washington D.C. office. Mark’s background complements our deepening bench of patent litigators and supports our mission work for clients on a range of IP litigation needs.”

Max Grant, Co-Chair of the firm’s global Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group and based in Washington D.C., added: “Mark’s experience in the Federal courts and with ITC Section 337 matters is a welcomed addition to our patent litigation practice. As record numbers of companies turn to the ITC and the federal courts to protect their intellectual property rights, Mark is a key addition to our trial-ready patent litigation team.”

“Latham & Watkins has demonstrated a strong commitment to the IP litigation practice,” said Koehn. “The firm’s global reach and particular strengths in the Boston and California technology hubs are complementary to my practice. I look forward to being a part of this talented group.”

Beyond litigation, Koehn is recognized for his expertise on electronic discovery and is a member of the Advisor Board for Georgetown University Law Center’s Advanced E-discovery Institute. He joins Latham & Watkins from the Washington D.C. office of Paul Hastings. He received his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, graduating cum laude.
