Rapper Snoop Dog avoided a jail sentence on gun and drug charges today when he pleaded no contest to the charges.
The 35 year old entertainer, whose real name is Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr, was given five years probation and 800 hours of community service. The charges relate to an incident in October where police discovered marijuana in Broadus’s car while dealing with him over a parking violation at Burbank’s Bob Hope airport.
Superior Court Judge Terry Smerling also ruled that the star must not have any gang members in his entourage.
Defence lawyer Donald Etra said Broadus recognizes that he has been given a good deal and intends “keeping his part of the bargain.”
