Ron Paul’s not concerned about being a solitary standout, as Pitpundit blog reports. When the U.S. Congress is not in the business of creating really competent and efficient bureaucracies, it’s in the business of voting on mostly pointless resolutions. So to the topic du jour that produced a U.S. House of Representatives resolution calling on China to end its crackdown on Tibet and release Tibetans imprisoned for “nonviolent” demonstrations.
The resolution passed 413-1. Guess who couldn’t even say yes to something as pointedly ineffectual as this resolution… Ron Paul, White House aspirant.
One may be the loneliest number in the House, but it’s not on the streets of San Francisco where Paul’s view found sympathy. The Party for Socialism and Liberation was ranting in SFO about the U.S. “trying to break off Tibet from China in order to allow the U.S. to occupy it. … Tibet has been part of China since before any Western countries even existed.”
War for oil in Iraq. War for yak butter in Tibet. Something’s dilly with their lama.
