SAN FRANCISCO AND LOS ANGELES, July 5, 2007 – LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, the national law and consulting firm, announced today that it has signed a lease for new office space at 111 Sutter Street in San Francisco’s financial district. Manatt will occupy two floors with office space for 50 professionals, totaling more than 25,000 square feet, in the historic 1920s building. Manatt’s anticipated move-in date is early August, 2007.
“We believe San Francisco is a dynamic market and a strategic location to better serve our existing clients, broaden our client base, further develop our core practice areas and attract top talent,” said William T. Quicksilver, Manatt’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner.
Christopher L. Wanger, a partner in Manatt’s Litigation division, will relocate from the firm’s Palo Alto office to San Francisco, where he will serve as the office’s administrative partner. Mr. Wanger will work closely with T. Hale Boggs, a Partner in Manatt’s Corporate & Finance/Venture Capital & Technology practice, to coordinate lateral recruiting and business development efforts for Manatt’s San Francisco office. Mr. Boggs, who opened Manatt’s Palo Alto office in 1998, is also Chair of the firm’s business development committee.
Manatt’s San Francisco office will commence business staffed with Manatt attorneys relocating from the firm’s Palo Alto and Los Angeles offices, and professionals from Manatt Health Solutions (MHS), a healthcare policy and strategic business advisory group of the firm. The attorneys include Sharon Bauman, partner Labor & Employment; Donald J. Fitzgerald, Partner, Tax, Employee Benefits & Global Compensation; Craig D. Miller, Partner, Corporate & Finance; Michelle Gillette, Counsel, Intellectual Property; and associates, Tara S. Kaushik and John P. Kern. “Manatt had a vision for opening an office in San Francisco to complement our other Northern California offices,” said Mr. Wanger. “The new office also presents a platform from which we can further develop our core practice areas and grow in number of attorneys. We are excited about practicing in the heart of San Francisco.”
In addition to offices in Palo Alto and San Francisco, Manatt’s Northern California presence includes its Sacramento office, focused primarily on clients’ government affairs matters.
The deal was brokered on behalf of the tenant by Studley’s George Fox and Ham Southworth.
