SAN FRANCISCO, March 12, 2007 – LAWFUEL – American Lawyer News – Morrison & Foerster is pleased to announce that Harold McElhinny has been inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL), one of the premier legal associations in America. Mr. McElhinny was inducted at the College’s 2007 Annual Meeting in Palm Springs, CA.
Founded in 1950, the ACTL is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. They are dedicated to maintaining and improving the standards of trial practice, the administration of justice and the ethics of the profession.
Fellowship in the ACTL is extended by invitation only and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Qualified lawyers are called to Fellowship in the ACTL from all branches of trial practice. They are selected from among those who customarily represent plaintiffs in civil cases and those who customarily represent defendants, those who prosecute individuals accused of crime and those who defend them. Lawyers must have a minimum of fifteen years trial experience before they can be considered for Fellowship.
Mr. McElhinny is Co-Chair of Morrison & Foerster’s Intellectual Property Group. His experience includes the representation of clients, as both plaintiff and defendant, in significant matters involving all aspects of patent, copyright, and trade secret litigation.
Mr. McElhinny received his B.A. degree in 1970 from the University of Santa Clara and received his J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law, the University of California at Berkeley, in 1975.
Mr. McElhinny is the ninth Morrison & Foerster partner to be named a fellow of the College, joining previous honorees Bob Raven, Seth Hufstedler, Jim Brosnahan, Chuck Patterson, Mel Goldman, William Alsup, Howard Soloway, and Jim Bennett.
