Hong Kong, 11 June 2008 LAWFUEL – Law Firm Newswire – The international law firm Shearman & Sterling LLP has been strengthened with the hire of Sidharth Bhasin ? a leading India specialist. He joins as counsel, based at the firm?s Hong Kong office.
Sidharth brings substantial knowledge and experience to Shearman & Sterling?s India practice and will advise clients on international aspects of India-related transactions, drawing on seven years experience advising foreign and international clients doing business both in India and the wider Asia region. Shearman & Sterling is not permitted to practice Indian law, but Sidharth will work closely with the firm?s attorneys around the network and local law firms on the ground in India, to provide integrated cross-border advice on India-related deals.

Sidharth Bhasin joins Shearman & Sterling from the Hong Kong office of Debevoise & Plimpton, where he was the lead India associate from 2006. Prior to that, he was an associate in the India group of Kelly Drye & Warren in New York for five years. Sidharth has extensive experience advising clients on a wide range of legal issues across many industry sectors and specializes in mergers and acquisitions and private equity investments, as well as initial public offerings and secondary offerings and private placements for both issuers and underwriters.
