Sidley Austin Brown & Wood has represented CNOOC Limited, a New York Stock Exchange and Hong Kong Stock Exchange listed company affiliated with China National Offshore Oil Corporation, in its second international offering of US$500 million guaranteed bonds. The bonds, issued through its wholly-owned finance subsidiary, CNOOC Finance (2003) Limited, includes two tranches with 10-year and 30-year maturities. The transaction closed on Wednesday 21 May 2003.
Sidley’s Hong Kong-based Corporate Finance Team acted as both United States and Hong Kong counsel for CNOOC, China’s largest offshore oil and gas company. The team was led by partner, Tim Li, and included lawyers from the firm’s Hong Kong and Beijing offices.
