January 9, 2025 – International law firm Sullivan & Worcester announced today that Stephanie Monaco has joined the firm’s marquee Investment Management practice group as a Partner in Washington, D.C. Monaco, who previously worked at the Securities and Exchange Commission in the SEC’s Division of Investment Management, is a Chambers-ranked Band 1 adviser who provides strategic counsel to investment management firms (including dually-registered investment advisers and broker-dealers) in their delivery of investment advice to a wide variety of investment advisory clients, including private funds, managed accounts, institutional and retail accounts and programs and registered investment companies.
“The depth of experience that Stephanie adds to our practice coupled with her ability to help clients navigate compliance and regulatory hurdles will be of tremendous value to our clients,” said Nicole Crum, leader of Sullivan’s Investment Management Group and Chair of its Corporate Governance & Board Advisory Practice. “The ‘cradle to grave,’ holistic menu of services that Stephanie offers will undoubtedly support clients as they set their business strategies. We are glad to welcome her to the Sullivan team.”
Prior to joining Sullivan, Monaco was at Mayer Brown and other global law firms. She started her career with the SEC, first in the Division of Investment Management’s Chief Counsel’s Office and later in the Division’s Office of Investment Company Regulation. She earned her J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law and her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland.
“Sullivan & Worcester’s Investment Management Group is exceptional in terms of the breadth of what they do and how very well they do it,” Monaco said. “The Group’s client base and practice is an ideal platform for the guidance I provide to investment advisers. With the incoming Trump Administration likely to regulate the industry with a lighter touch than what we’ve experienced over the past four years, investment managers can thoughtfully optimize their growth strategies and fine-tune their compliance programs. I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues to maximize the value of our experienced advice to clients in the coming years.”
For decades, Sullivan has served the investment management industry, offering sophisticated legal advice to some of the world’s largest and most experienced investment managers. The firm’s partners are known throughout the investment management industry for their experience and broad knowledge base. More importantly, they are known for providing practical advice. The result: Sullivan’s investment management practice has been consistently ranked among the best by Chambers USA, The Legal 500 U.S., and Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms.”
