TALLAHASSEE, FL – Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced the newest member of his management team appointing Emery A. Gainey as Law Enforcement Liaison for the Office of the Attorney General.
Gainey, a native of Gainesville, has extensive experience in law enforcement having served in the Alachua County Sheriffs Office for over 25 years. Most recently Gainey held the position of Division Commander of the Planning and Accreditation Division overseeing not only the law enforcement arm of the organization but also the legislative, grants, and policy units within the Sheriff’s office. He has further expertise in the areas of homeland security, negotiations and crime prevention.
The Law Enforcement Liaison acts as an intermediary between the Office of the Attorney General and the Florida Sheriffs Association, Police Chiefs Association, and other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. In this position, Gainey will play an integral role in developing and implementing law enforcement related policy for the Attorney General’s office.
