Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, one of the world’s leading international law firms, has announced its largest-ever partner promotion class, elevating 44 associates to partner effective January 1, 2025, representing a significant increase from previous years, with 12 more promotions compared to 2023.

Simpson Thacher, a LawFuel ‘prestige list’ member, has grown to over 1,000 lawyers globally, with its headquarters in New York and offices across major financial centers including London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and São Paulo.

The firm is known for its expertise in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, banking and credit, and private funds.

Most of the new partners are based in the firm’s New York headquarters, reflecting the firm’s strong presence in the U.S. legal market, but the promotions also span several international offices. The firm’s London office is headed by the first woman to hold the position.

Key practice areas represented in this year’s partner class include M&A, banking, litigation, tax and real estate.

The promotion round comes at a time of continued growth for Simpson Thacher. The firm has been expanding its presence in key markets and practice areas, adapting to evolving client needs and market conditions.
