Russell McVeagh has announced four new partners but said little of the departure from the firm of former board Chair Polly Pope, who has joined Bankside Chambers.

It is somewhat surprising the announcement about the new partners did not include details about the departure of the former Chair, a prominent and successful litigation and arbitration specialist who is one of the country’s leading commercial disputes lawyers.
She has represented a number of New Zealand’s largest listed companies, multinational corporations, major trading banks and financial institutions, and public sector organisations.
She was appointed Chair of Russell McVeagh’s Partnership in 2021.
Prior to joining Russell McVeagh she had worked in the UK with Debevoise & Plimpton and Clifford Chance.
She will also join Bankside’s Singapore Chambers to act on international disputes and arbitrations.
“Polly’s skills in advocacy, alternative dispute resolution and insolvency will enhance chambers greatly,” Bankside Chambers’ Singapore member shares Bankside Singapore member the Honourable Paul Heath KC said in a LinkedIn statement.
