THREE BLAKES LAWYERS NAMED LEXPERT RISING STARS

TORONTO (December 4, 2012) – Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes), one of Canada’s leading business law firms, today announced that three of its partners, Eric Moncik, Linc Rogers and Patrick Shea, have been honoured as “Lexpert Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40.” The event took place last night at The Fairmont Royal York in Toronto.

Eric Moncik’s practice focuses primarily on public and private financings (acting for issuer and dealer clients), and public and private mergers and acquisitions. He also provides ongoing advice on general securities and corporate law matters to a variety of issuer clients. He is Co-chair of the Firm’s Toronto Articling Student Program and serves on the Blakes Legal Personnel Committee.

Linc Rogers has a varied and dynamic practice focusing on all aspects of commercial reorganizations, distressed acquisitions, debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing and security enforcement. Between 2004 and 2007, Mr. Rogers helped establish the Blakes Chicago office. He is the national editor of the Commercial Insolvency Reporter and has published extensively in Canadian, U.S. and international periodicals. He is a frequent invited speaker at conferences and seminars throughout Canada and the U.S. Mr. Rogers is an active member of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers, and he also speaks frequently on diversity issues in the legal profession.

Patrick Shea’s principal areas of expertise are mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate and commercial law, and debt finance. He serves on the boards of a number of foundations, charities and other not-for-profit organizations and has held leadership positions in connection with past capital and annual fundraising campaigns for McGill University, Princeton University, Loyola High School, McGill University Health Centre and Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal. Mr. Shea has also taught business law at the Faculty of Law of McGill University.
