BALTIMORE, MD December 18, 2008 (LAWFUEL) – The Baltimore-based law firm Ober|Kaler announced today that it has added three new associates. Jackson Brent Boyd, Kyle E. Conklin, and Lisa D. Stevenson joined the firm in September as first-year associates and were formally admitted to practice in Maryland this month.
Mr. Boyd practices in Ober|Kaler’s Litigation Group. He worked as a Summer Associate at Ober|Kaler in 2007 and as a Law Clerk in 2008, and prior to that, served as an intern for U.S. Magistrate Judge Susan K. Gauvey. He also served as Director of Economic Development & Government Affairs at the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce, and as Vice President of Small Business & Community Affairs at the Greater Durham (North Carolina) Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Boyd graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 2008), where he worked on the Maryland Law Review, and Washington & Lee University (B.A., 1998). He resides in Baltimore, Maryland.
Mr. Conklin also served as a Summer Associate with Ober|Kaler in 2007. As a former engineering student with a particular interest in technology issues, he has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property Group and is registered to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office. Mr. Conklin attended Texas Tech University School of Law (J.D., summa cum laude, 2008), where he served as Executive Managing Editor of the Texas Tech Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University (B.S., 2005). Mr. Conklin lives in the Federal Hill community of Baltimore, Maryland.
Dr. Stevenson has joined Ober|Kaler’s Health Law Group, after having served as a Summer Associate in 2006 and 2007. A podiatric physician, Dr. Stevenson worked as a solo practitioner in Mitchellville, Maryland, and before that, she was a Team Leader for the biotechnology firm that sequenced the human genome. She also held other scientific research positions at biomedical and pharmaceutical facilities. Dr. Stevenson is a graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 2008), where she served as Executive Editor of the Law Review and was the recipient of the Harry A. Cole Academic Excellence Award. She also holds degrees from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (DPM, 1998) and the University of Maryland (B.S., 1994). In 2002, she completed the Podiatric Orthopedic Residency Program at Howard University Hospital, where she was the third-place recipient of the Outstanding Resident of the Year Award. Dr. Stevenson resides in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
