LawFuel.com – August 19, 2009 – PREET BHARARA, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced today the following appointments to his executive and supervisory staff:
BOYD M. JOHNSON III was named the Deputy United States
Attorney. Prior to this appointment, Mr. JOHNSON, who joined the
Office in 1999, was the Chief of the Public Corruption Unit and
the Chief and Deputy Chief of the International Narcotics
Trafficking Unit. Mr. JOHNSON is a 1989 graduate of Hamilton
College, and a 1992 graduate of Cornell Law School. Prior to
joining the Office, Mr. JOHNSON clerked for United States
District Judge LAUGHLIN E. WATERS in the Central District of
California, and worked as an associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher
in New York.
RAYMOND J. LOHIER, JR., was named the Chief of the
Criminal Division’s Securities and Commodities Fraud Task Force.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. LOHIER, who joined the Office in
2000, was the Deputy Chief of the Securities and Commodities
Fraud Task Force and the Chief and Deputy Chief of the Narcotics
Unit. Mr. LOHIER is a 1988 graduate of Harvard College, and a
1991 graduate of the New York University School of Law. After
law school, Mr. LOHIER clerked for United States District Judge
ROBERT P. PATTERSON in the Southern District of New York, and
worked as an associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in
New York. Prior to joining the Office, Mr. LOHIER served as a
Senior Trial Attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S.
Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. MIRIAM E. ROCAH was named the Chief of the Criminal Division’s Organized Crime Unit. Prior to this appointment, Ms. ROCAH, who joined the Office in 2001, was the Deputy Chief of the Organized Crime Unit and the Deputy Chief of the Narcotics Unit. Ms. ROCAH is a 1992 graduate of Harvard College, and a 1997
graduate of the New York University School of Law. After law school, Ms. ROCAH clerked for United States District Judge JOHN
GLEESON in the Eastern District of New York and then for the
Honorable CHESTER J. STRAUB of the United States Court of Appeals
for the Second Circuit. Prior to joining the Office, Ms. ROCAH
worked as an associate at Cravath, Swaine and Moore in New York.
DANIEL L. STEIN was named the Chief of the Criminal
Division’s Public Corruption Unit. Prior to this appointment,
Mr. STEIN, who joined the Office in 2003, served in the Public
Corruption Unit and the International Narcotics Trafficking Unit.
Mr. STEIN is a 1996 graduate of Columbia College, and a 1999
graduate of Yale Law School. Prior to joining the Office, Mr.
STEIN clerked for United States District Judge LEONARD B. SAND in
the Southern District of New York, and worked as an associate at
Covington & Burling in New York.
