Voting Rights and Election Law TO BE DISCUSSED
Coral Gables, FL (December 18, 2008 – LAWFUEL) – The University of Miami Law Review Symposium will take place on Saturday January 31, 2009 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Storer Auditorium of the business school located at 5250 University Drive on the Coral Gables campus.
The topic for this conference will be “How Far Have We Come Since 2000?” The Symposium will be devoted to current topics in Voting Rights and Election Law. Cases such as the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Crawford v. Marion County Election Board and the Democratic Party’s handling of the Florida and Michigan delegate dispute will be discussed. There will also be a review of election reforms since 2000 with a focus on what still needs to be done to ensure every vote is counted. Members of the general public, and interested legal scholars and practitioners are invited to attend.
This year’s keynote speaker is Mr. David Boies. He is the founder and Chairman of Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP and is widely regarded as one of the nation’s top trial lawyers. Mr. Boies is best known for serving as lead counsel for former Vice-President Al Gore in connection with the litigation relating to the 2000 Presidential election.
