LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – Randy Charles Harris, 37, of Indiantown, Florida, entered a guilty plea today in Fort Pierce, Florida, to one count of using a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of such conduct and one count of conspiracy to use a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of such conduct, Assistant Attorney General Alice S. Fisher of the Criminal Division and U.S. Attorney R. Alexander Acosta for the Southern District of Florida announced today.
According to a superseding indictment returned on October 4, 2007, Harris and another individual, who is also charged, together produced video clips of at least two minor boys engaged in sexually explicit conduct between approximately January 2005 and June 2007.
Sentencing is scheduled for January 4, 2008, before the Honorable Donald L. Graham. Harris faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years in prison as to each count for the production of child pornography, up to a $250,000 fine, and a term of supervised release of between at least five years to life.
Mr. Acosta commended the investigative efforts of the Department of Homeland Security’s Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Corey Steinberg and Trial Attorney Elizabeth M. Yusi of the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section of the U.S. Department of Justice.
