HOUSTON – Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP announced today that Cristina Portela Solomon has joined the firm’s Houston office as a partner in its Labor section.

Ms. Solomon brings extensive experience in employment litigation and other labor matters involving complex employment laws governing the employee-employer relationship. Her 25-year legal career has been devoted exclusively to representing management in all phases of labor and employment law, where the courtroom is viewed as a last resort in the resolution of employment-related disputes.

As a former co-managing shareholder of the Houston office of Winstead, head of recruiting, chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee and advisor to the Executive Committee on employment issues critical to the firm, Cristina’s management experience allows her to counsel clients as both an attorney and astute business administrator.

“Cristina’s unique blend of experience in employment law and management makes her a valuable addition to the firm,” said Steve Good, Gardere’s managing partner. “Her ability to make sound business decisions and reach resolutions for her clients is highly regarded within the legal community.”

Ms. Solomon has been named a Texas Super Lawyer; recognized in H Texas as one of Houston’s Top 25 Labor and Employment Lawyers and as a Houston Top Lawyer.

Ms. Solomon is a frequent speaker to legal, business and community groups on issues relating to employment laws impacting employers, such as diversity, discrimination, sexual harassment, intellectual capital and workers’ compensation. A 1984 graduate of University of Notre Dame Law School, Ms. Solomon received her undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Loyola University of Chicago in 1981.
