(Washington, D.C.) – LAWFUEL – The Law Newswire – Michael L. Kiklis and Kimani P. Clark have joined Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP as partners in the intellectual property practice in Washington and A. Wesley Ferrebee has joined the practice as an associate, the firm announced today.

The group focuses on software patent law, with an emphasis on litigation, cross-licensing negotiations and patent studies, as well as patent portfolio development and management. The group’s clients include some of the world’s leading computer and software companies. Messrs. Clark, Kiklis and Ferrebee join the firm from Sonnenschein, where they comprised that firm’s software patent practice in Washington, D.C., and where Mr. Kiklis served as head of the software patent practice.

Mr. Kiklis received his B.S. in computer science from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, his M.S. in computer science from Boston University and his J.D. with high honors from Syracuse University. He is a frequent lecturer on various aspects of patent law. Mr. Clark received his B.S. in computer science and engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his J.D. from Stanford Law School. Mr. Ferrebee received his B.S. in computer science from the University of Virginia and his J.D. from the George Mason University School of Law.
