WASHINGTON, Oct. 19 LAWFUEL – Law News Network — International President Warren S.
George has retained Richard W. Mark, an attorney with Orrick, Herrington
and Sutcliffe LLP, as Independent Counsel to investigate allegations
regarding ATU Local 1181 arising out of the indictment and guilty plea
entered by Matthew Ianniello in U.S. v. Ianniello, September 14, in the
federal court for the Southern District of New York.
Mark, a partner in Orrick’s New York office, has an extensive
background in civil RICO matters, and is currently serving as the
court-appointed supervisor of the election of international officers for
the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
Mark served as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New
York from 1984 – 1994. In 1994 he was appointed First Deputy Commissioner
of the New York City Department of Investigation. As First Deputy
Commissioner he supervised the City’s Inspector General program for all of New York City’s agencies.
Working with Mark will be attorney Jay K. Musoff, also a partner in
Orrick’s New York office. Musoff served as Assistant U.S. Attorney in the
Criminal Division of the Southern District of New York for five years. He
prosecuted many cases involving racketeering and financial crimes. At
Orrick, Musoff has conducted internal investigations; he is a frequent
author, speaker and commentator on internal investigations, ethics and
regulatory compliance.
