(Research Triangle Park, N.C. and San Francisco, Calif.) Global intellectual property leader Murgitroyd & Company has expanded its U.S. operations into the Bay Area with the opening of its West Coast office in San Francisco, California.
The firm has hired 20-year industry veteran and California native Dylan Gittleman as its Senior Corporate Sales Manager to head-up marketing of Murgitroyd’s services. These include its hugely successful IP Portal which allows established technology companies and early-stage startups to benefit from increased efficiency and lower costs.
“Dylan’s contacts and experience from calling on the Fortune 500 and middle market companies throughout California and the Pacific Northwest will help Murgitroyd share the distinct value proposition of our IP Portal to the region’s innovation community,” Jamie LeLiever, head of Global Sales & Marketing for Murgitroyd, said.
According to LeLiever, the simplicity and ease-of-use of the IP Portal, when combined with Murgitroyd & Company’s expansive network of international attorneys and its buying power through a single point of contact, enable companies with limited resources to file patents in record time with savings of up to 45 percent. For example, one U.S.
client needing to file patents in 12 countries was given an estimate by a New York firm of $120k; Murgitroyd was able to provide the same service in a shorter amount of time for $40k, LeLeiver explained.
“The younger brick-and-mortar startups and even virtual companies, especially those in and around Silicon Valley, have a lot on their plates in commercializing their new technologies and scientific discoveries,” he said, adding, “They don’t need to worry about their VC backers over-spending on intellectual property concerns.”
Silicon Valley accounts for one-third of all venture capital investment in the United States.
The brainchild of Stanford University Professor Frederick Terman in the 1930’s, Silicon Valley began to take shape just after WWII as local engineering faculty and graduates were encouraged to remain in the area and start their own companies rather than moving to the east coast for technology opportunities. By securing substantial financial support from a number of sources Terman was able to keep fresh, innovative talent local and foster a supportive atmosphere of entrepreneurism.
Murgitroyd & Company has seen a steady increase in business from younger startups in the innovation marketplace in the tech-heavy Research Triangle Park, North Carolina region, with a growing number of inquiries from businesses across the U.S., including those in Silicon Valley.
“More and more companies out west need effective global IP services at lower costs, which made it imperative that we find a tech-savvy, experienced professional like Dylan to help us service this market,”
LeLiever added.
Gittleman’s dynamic business development background includes new business development and large strategic account management for GE Capital, UPS Capital and IBM Global Finance. He received a BS in Economics from the University of California at Irvine, and earned his MBA in Finance from California State University, Long Beach.

Murgitroyd & Company is in the midst of its five year roadmap to capitalize on the growing demand for enterprise-class IP services as innovative companies of all sizes continue to reduce IP budgets and do more with less while still maintaining quality. In 2010, the firm expanded its U.S. headquarters in the Research Triangle Park region of North Carolina and opened an office in Tokyo, Japan.
